Homemade Bounty Bars

If you like the flavor of coconut then you are probably a fan of bounty bars. Coconut goodness coated in chocolate.. what could be better? πŸ˜‹Β Well as yummy as bounty bars are, they’re not particularly the healthy thing to snack on. So I decided to make my own healthier version of these delicious bars.

What’s best about these homemade bounty bars is that they’re very easy to make and they don’t even require baking! All you do is mix a few ingredients, place them in the freezer a couple of times and voilΓ ! You have your guilt-free bounty bars!

You can either melt some dark chocolate for the coating or make your own coating mixture (for which the recipe will be below). I would recommend coating the bars twice. Don’t worry if the bars aren’t coated super evenly. After all.. it’s what they taste like that matters the most 😊

  • 2 Β½ cups shredded coconut
  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 4 tablespoons maple syrup / honey
  • pinch of salt

For the chocolate coating:

  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 8 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 4-5 tablespoons maple syrup / honey
  1. Melt the coconut oil in the microwave or on a stove top. Add in the maple syrup, salt, and shredded coconut and mix everything well.
  2. Place the mixture in a small baking tray lined with parchment paper and make sure to firmly press it down.
  3. Place this in the freezer for 30 minutes. After the mixture has set, cut it into small bars.
  4. Prepare the chocolate coating: melt the coconut oil and mix it with the cocoa powder and maple syrup. Wait for the chocolate mixture to slightly cool down.
  5. Coat the bars in the chocolate mixture and place in the freezer for 15 minutes to set. If you want you can coat it twice for a thicker layer of chocolate.
  6. Store in the fridge.
